For our first project, we worked together to create a typeface. Each student worked on brainstorming different ways of hand drawing a specific letter. Then they swapped with a partner, and drew inspiration from the partner's drawings while designing and drawing the final draft of the letter. After creating hand drawn drafts, students used the digital tool Fontstruct to create a digital version of their letter. In the process of designing the digital letter, students had to think about how to translate their hand drawn ideas into a more simplified and rigid process.
